Workshop Description:
This workshop will take a systemic approach in addressing the issue of collective trauma. Holding space for our clients’ trauma as well as coping with our own, particularly the collective trauma of our time, will be addressed. Specific strategies and techniques, experiential and interactive in nature, for processing and healing trauma will be addressed. A collective space for discussion, reflection, and togetherness will be front and center.
Based on the content of the workshop, participants will be able to:
- Understand collective trauma and the effects of it
- Recognize signs and symptoms of trauma
- Have strategies and techniques to heal clients and themselves
About the Presenters:
Saadia Z. Yunus, LMFT
Saadia Yunus is a licensed marriage and family therapist, trauma specialist, motivational speaker, and community leader. She has over 10 years of experience working with individuals, couples, families, and groups. Her passion is to engage with people on a personal level to uplift them into discovering the best version of themselves. In addition to therapy, she achieves this through motivational and trauma-informed presentations and workshops throughout the country. Saadia Yunus owns a private practice in Deer Park, NY and offers online therapy to anyone in the state of NY and coaching to anyone worldwide. She serves on the advisory board of Dolan Family Health Center, the social media team of the NY Marriage and Family Therapy Network, and the board of the national men’s mental health organization, The Barbershop Group. She is also the cofounder of Muslimahs of Long Island. Saadia Yunus was raised in Bonifay, Florida and currently resides on Long Island, NY with her mother-in-law, husband, four children, and her cat.
