Workshop Description:
As systemic thinkers we understand that our clients dynamic lives extend far outside the therapy space. While we cannot be expected to be experts on every topic, in our capitalist society: Money Talks. Are we as therapists comfortable facilitating discussion on such a complex subject? With the pandemic continuing to exacerbate not only the mental health but financial stress of our clients, the divide between the have and have nots grows wider each day. Just as with any presenting problem, family of origin cultural, ethnic and class creates pressures for individuals, couples and families, but the transference and countertransference between therapist and client(s) often gets overlooked. Join us for a day long symposium with financial planners, coaches, mediators to dive deeper into this hot-button topic. Beginning with keynote speaker and author of “Fragile Power,” Dr. Paul Hokemeyer, presenters will speak on a variety of subjects from compulsive shopping to financial couples coaching. Enhance your financial and cultural sensitivity as we explore the intersection of financial health and mental wellness.
Participants will have the ability to register for half day or full day conference. This event is FREE or those with an active New York Marriage and Family Therapy (NYMFTN) membership. Consider joining NYMFTN, even if you are not licensed in this state—it’s cheaper than the cost of registration and provides you access to even more dynamic speakers and programming.
